All members and supporters are welcome to join Ed Davey MP
About Ed:
Ed Davey MP is a campaigner who knows how to win elections, at all levels. Ed won Kingston and Surbiton in 1997 when no-one thought he could win and it wasn’t even a target seat. Then in 2001, Ed and his team increased the majority from 56 to a record 15,676. Losing the seat in 2015, Ed regained the Constituency in 2017 and increased his majority taking over 50% of the vote.
In his time as an MP, Ed has been a true local champion for Kingston and Surbiton, leading campaigns to save the A&E and maternity units at Kingston Hospital from closure and delivering additional primary school places in Kingston.
Ed has said, “I’m a Liberal Democrat because Liberal Democrats do care. About each other. About our communities. About our planet.” That’s why caring is at the heart of many of his campaigns - from calling for more support for bereaved families to end of life care for people who are homeless.
During the coalition government, Ed served as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, before he was promoted to Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change from 2012-2015.
It was his concerns about the environment that first got him politically active. Ed’s proudest achievement as an MP was to have led the policy to secure a massive increase in renewable power in the UK which quadrupled under the Coalition government.
